I will be frank, I liked the concept behind Fiverr.com.
Only a few clicks and a client can put an order with a freelancer according to a specific set of deliverables.
Sure, however, it comes at a price. A huge one.
That is one the couple freelance platforms where buyers have been given free reign to abuse, threaten and outright blackmail vendors any way they like.
In this post, I would like to share a new bad experience as a vendor on Fiverr, also why I chose to give up on the stage altogether.
(I have been advising her building up a reputable accounts, and the way to go beyond and above with every previous purchase. Everything mentioned is that her doing, I'm only an observer.)
In cases like this, she'd only gotten another $5 order on her emblem gig, which appeared to be like any other... so we thought.
The order was fulfilled in great time, and my buddy had included a bonus emblem concept as well as the source file (which is usually a part of the costlier bundle ).
The customer"loved" one of the concepts so we proceeded to send her the appropriates file sizes, as mentioned in the gig description.
The customer came back asking for a social media kit to go with the emblem, something which is obviously not available as a member of her post.
Against my advice, my girlfriend chose to provide the additional work, although not getting paid any extra for it.
Following that, the client responded with much more requirements and some alterations to the social networking files.
At this time, she concurred enough was enough.
Despite every effort to please this person, they were clearly overstepping their bounds here.
This is when the customer went from only overstepping bounds to unquestionable blackmail. (The equivalent of taking my girlfriend Fiverr standing hostage.)
While she took some time to contemplate a response and reach to Fiverr support for help, the customer did eventually go right ahead and render a 1 star review.
Presumably this is to show her he/she was Fiverr - Freelance Services on the App Store - iTunes - Apple not kidding.
Shortly after, while waiting on Fiverr's answer to the service query, the client paid an extra $10 to your social networking kit.
Obviously, the payment has been accompanied by yet another threat.
Now, all I wished to do was go all Liam Neeson and hunt this person down so I could punch them from the face.
However, at the time, I still had hope that Fiverr service would step in and save my girlfriend out of this PITA client.
After the response came from Fiverr service, they told her they could Fiverr Reviews Read Customer Service Reviews of www.fiverr.com not induce the purchaser to accept the purchase.
Okay, that is fair enough. (Even though the purchaser accepted it, technically.)
They also proposed drawing up a listing for the buyer to demonstrate the work has been done in accordance to the gig requirements.
My girlfriend hauled in her initial email the customer was trying to extort her to get free work outside the agreed conditions, by making a negative inspection if she did not comply.
Obviously, it was not about the work, it was all about seeking protection from an abusive client who was blatantly pushing their luck.
Their reply did not provide us some confidence that Fiverr really understood , and even at this point we felt as though they did not need to get involved.
At exactly the identical time, she responded to the buyers newest threat, explaining that she would not continue to work together unless the comments had been changed/removed.
(Again, this can be feedback which was obviously and blatantly made to intimidate her to supplying function outside of the agreed terms.)
A fair petition by anyones standards, right?
As opposed to acknowledge what the purchaser had completed until this time, Fiverr immediately turned the tables in my girlfriend.
Turns out, she had been the only breaking all of the rules.
Since she'd requested the customer to change their feedback, she was no longer entitled to any help from Fiverr assistance.
It is possible to imagine how we both felt studying this.
What the purchaser had said and done before her final message was now being swept under the rug -- as if never happened in any respect.
Fiverr basically chose to support a manipulative bully, leaving my girlfriend using a permanent stain in an account she had worked so difficult to build up.
And believe me, there are plenty of buyers doing precisely this on Fiverr, knowing they could and will get away with it.
But as all of this was occurring, I did some investigating to see whether any other vendors went through a similar ordeal with a buyer.
Very quickly, I discovered a number of nearly equal cases on the Fiverr forum dated years ago. (that's correct, decades.)
This is obviously something that's been happening for quite a while and it stems from giving buyers too much power over sellers.
If there's 1 thing I've heard about Fiverr, it is that clients are ALWAYS more appreciated than freelancers.
Regardless of how much time that you put into a project, or how hard you worked on itor even how long you managed communication in a dispute, when it actually comes over here down to it... freelancers have little to no protection.
Even if it's a very clear cut situation in your favour, there is still every chance the client will come out at the top. All it takes it one tiny thing that you"did wrong" in accordance with their own conditions of support and EVERYTHING else is disregarded
Looking at the signs, it's obvious to me Fiverr is well aware of what's going on, yet is still eager to settle back and let it happen.
If you're a decision maker in Fiverr and you're reading this, I implore you to seriously reevaluate your current support procedures for freelancers.
It's not right that someone can put all the time and effort in establishing an account and also over-delivering at every conceivable chance, just to be taken down by the very people that you rely on to safeguard you.
Look, I don't want to leave Fiverr. I really don't want to be telling people to prevent your platform.
But after everything that has happened, you have not left me any selection.
Until something is done in order to safeguard freelancers from this sort of abuse, I'll continue to spread this article and do anything I can to stop others from falling prey to a one-sided support staff.
The next you truly do something about this and provide freelancers a means to fight , I will be more than happy to update this post.
